A New Chapter for Dyslexia Support in Fort Worth ISD

In response to uneven outcomes and urgent parent concerns, Fort Worth ISD is rolling out a redesigned dyslexia intervention model—marking a major shift in how students are identified and supported.

The district will launch Take Flight, a therapist-delivered program for students with the most significant needs, and Bridges, a teacher-led model enhanced by a virtual co-teacher named Miss Hallie. The initiative reflects what Superintendent Karen Molinar called an “emergency response” to lagging literacy outcomes. Even with recent gains, only 37% of FWISD third graders are reading at grade level. This new approach aims to close that gap by building a deeper pipeline of trained dyslexia specialists.
