Big Gains, But the Work Isn’t Done: Fort Worth Reading Scores Rise in 2025

 

Fort Worth ISD made its biggest reading gains in years, with 3rd and 4th grade STAAR proficiency jumping from 33% to 41%. This progress shows what’s possible when schools prioritize early literacy, consistent instruction, and the right interventions. But with more than half of students still not reading at grade level, this moment is a call to action—for families, educators, and community leaders to keep pushing until every child has the support to read, succeed, and thrive.
