Fort Worth Expands Learning Time at 15 Struggling Schools to Boost Reading and Math Gains

 

 

In a major step to address learning loss and long-standing academic gaps, Fort Worth ISD is extending the school year by 25 days for 15 campuses with historically low performance ratings. The additional time will prioritize intensive reading and math instruction—core skills tied closely to student success. District leaders say the move reflects an urgent responsibility to do more for students who’ve spent years in underperforming schools.
